Distribution: Mainly Atlantic.

Description: The jellyfish are diploblastic animals. Just as in cnidarians, 2 dermal membranes (the ecto and endoderm) are separated by a gelatinous substance the mesoglea. The missing stinging cells are replaced by adhesive cells, colloblasts, whose role is also to capture prey.
All species are equipped with flippers hair, arranged in 8 rows meridian. The beats are synchronized and often give along the body of the individual, light waves when they are close to the surface. Some species are equipped with own light organs, as in Beroe ovata.

Habitat: This pelagic comb jelly can be found at any depth.

Food: zooplankton.
