Moorish Idole
xanclus cornutus
Distribution: Indo-Pacific area, the Red Sea to Mexico. Description: about 20cm size, and has a long white filament in the wake of its dorsal fin. The mouth is prominent. A yellow spot highlighted in black mark the top of the mouth. The body is striped three wide vertical stripes in the center of yellow and black on both sides. The caudal fin is black highlighted with a white edging on end. Housing: lives in the coral reef area between 0.50 m and 150m. Food: Mainly omnivorous fish that fed the soft corals and sponges. |
