Cephalopolis miniata

Distribution: Red Sea, Pacific.

Habitat: Occurs in lagoons and reefs turned seaward from the lower area swell to at least 150 meters deep.

Description: very common species of the outer reefs to clear water, whose maximum size is around 40 cm, grouper has a bright red color, mottled with very contrasting blue spots.
There are several red grouper with blue points, including three that are listed Cephalopolis oligostica (endemic to the Red Sea), Cephalopolis sexmaculata with blue lines under the eye (the Red Sea to the Pacific) and Cephalopolis hemistikos recognizable by the no blue dots on the back and tail fin).

Food: Predator, it feeds on fish and crustaceans.
