Distribution: Red Sea, Indo-Pacific.

Habitat: Occurs in lagoons and reefs, it occurs between 3m and 250m deep.
Very common species of coral in clear waters in depths of less than 15m. Fast movement.

Description: The maximum size is around 75 cm with an average weight of 12 kg, this grouper has a brown color with red tones. It is mottled with white spots pulling lilac very contrastées.Sa mandible is yellow, the dorsal, anal and caudal are lined with a very characteristic bright yellow edging of the case.
The caudal fin is shaped lyre.

Food: Predator, it feeds on fish, shellfish, crabs, shrimps and stomatopods.
