Gymnthorax javanicus

Distribution: Red Sea, Indian Ocean.

Habitat: rocky bottoms, cracks, crevices (-5 to -80 m).

Description: It is the largest reef of moray eels. His body is without scales, color ranging from brown, green and gray.
The skin is very thick and can sometimes distinguish a dark spot around the gills.
Can reach 2.50 m in length for a maximum weight of 35kg.  

Food: sedentary species hunting at night, predator, willingly eats fish, rarely crabs and other crustaceans.
