Distribution: Poisson endémique de la mer Rouge.

Description: Also called "Parrot catfish" is a fish of medium to large size (30 to 50 cm, sometimes more) with a horny beak, and the shape of the head suggests it is "capped" with a hat, hence the name.
It has large cycloid scales, continuous dorsal fin and a single lateral line. The body is lavender, the underside of the head to the pectoral fin is blue-green.
Cause ciguatera fish (food poisoning) as a vector of ciguatera toxins acquired through diet.

Habitat: It lives in shallow waters (3-50 m), around coral reefs.

Food: Coral reef benthic organisms, including the dinoflagellate, which is the cause of food poisoning.
